Dear Fillmore Parents and Students,

Welcome Back, Fillmore Lions - ROAR!

On behalf of Fillmore Elementary, it is my honor to welcome our students and families to the new 2025-2026 school year. We hope you had a safe and healthy summer break and enjoyed the well-needed rest and time with family. We also hope you are looking forward, along with us, to a new school year at Fillmore with familiar faces as well as new students.

Speaking of new faces, please help me welcome Ms. Stephanie King to Fillmore as our new Assistant Principal. Mr. Hernandez is happily enjoying a well earned retirement. We wish him a very long and happy retirement. Don’t fret, Mr. Hernandez will visit us!

For the last three years, we have returned to a normal school year setting. Our students have made tremendous academic gains these past three years thanks to the support of parents and our outstanding teaching staff. When children are sick, you will be given a call to come take your child home. Regarding COVID-19, if your child does come down ill with the virus, which is still a health issue, we must continue to follow state protocols which means students will have to stay home and isolate. We ask all families to discuss these issues and decide what is best for your children when in attendance at school.

In case you are not aware, we have the same school hours which are:  9:05AM - 3:05PMOur front gates will now be opened at 8:35AM and students may have breakfast from 8:35 - 9:05AM. Front-of-the-school morning supervision will only be available at 8:30AM. Students will be supervised inside the campus from 8:35 - 9:05AM. Therefore, for safety reasons, I am requesting that all children should arrive at Fillmore no earlier than 8:30 AM unless they are registered and enrolled in our Before School Program. Please register your interest at the ELOP page. I thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Please also be aware of Stockton Unified School District's safety mandate:  Fillmore is a closed campus and parents will not be allowed to enter the school campus unless for pre-arranged parent conferences or parent meetings such as IEPs, Coffee Hour, SSC, PTA, and ELAC. I ask you for your cooperation, and thank you in advance for your understanding to help ensure the safety of our children.

Speaking of parent meetings, I invite all parents to join us at all school activities and parent meetings for this new school year. Please come to our monthly Coffee Hour meetings, English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meetings, and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings. Our ELAC and PTA committees welcome all new and returning parents to these meetings and encourage you to join and participate in these groups. All meetings will occur in the school cafeteria on the last Friday of each month. In addition, we will host a variety of events that showcase the instruction in your child's classroom and their learning, such as Literacy, Math, and Science nights. There are many more activities planned for this school year, and we will keep you informed through our phone message system, our school website, ParentSquare, and on our electronic marquee. We welcome all new and returning parents to join and be part of our school parent meetings!

If you haven’t already done so, please register for ParentSquare.

One last thing… I am beyond pleased to announce that our Fillmore Robotics Team is No. 1 in the nation! Fillmore took the gold medal in Robotics:  Urban Search & Rescue at SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

On behalf of our school staff, we will work hard to continue to provide your child with the very best educational experience here at Fillmore.

Sincerely,

Ms. Thongthip Duangsawat, Principal
